Is CCNA Knowledge Valuable for Penetration Testers?
In this article, I discuss whether obtaining CCNA certification would significantly enhance the knowledge of a penetration tester. While CCNA covers Cisco-specific topics, it also includes general routing and switching knowledge that can be valuable for a penetration tester. However, the author points out that having a solid understanding of how switches work, packet routing, and network topology is already sufficient for most penetration testing tasks. Although CCNA knowledge can be helpful, it is not considered significantly advantageous in the field of penetration testing.
